Myrna's Memory: Our covered wagon trip
One of our favorite memories was taking a "Best in the West" trip with my sons when they were about five and eight. We went on a "Covered Wagon Ride" out of Jackson Hole,Wyoming. In those days Jackson Hole was a real small cowboy town and my sons, although they were New York City-slickers loved that. I think there was even a mock gunfight in the center of town. We left Jackson Hole and rode through a notch in the Grand Tetons. During the covered wagon trip, we learned about the history of the region, camped out in tents, ate delicious meals, and cooked S'Mores each night over the campfire embers. My sons really loved that, too! It made us all appreciate the beauty of the West and gave us the feeling we were experiencing a part of pioneer history--although in a very comfortable way. Afterwards we spent a few days at Jenny Lake Lodge in the Grand Teton National Park. It is an American memory we shared and still talk about years later.
